25 Music Artists Who Should Make a Christmas Album

25 Music Artists Who Should Make a Christmas Album Katy Perry, OneRepublic, Chloe x Halle, Dan + Shay, Leon Bridges

Christmas music is one of my absolute favorite things about the holiday season! You’ll definitely find me listening to my holiday playlist at any given time of the year, but it goes into overdrive once September 1st hits. Full disclosure: I have over 1,000 Christmas songs to play… there’s no way I can only listen to them in November and December.  In fact, I even have a “Christmas in July” playlist filled with tropical sounding festive favorites.

Ever year I love adding to both my digital and physical music collection with new albums, and I’ve noticed that there are several artists I love who don’t have a record that spreads Christmas cheer; some of them have released singles but never a full-length feature, and I’d really like for them to.

For fun, I decided to create a list of 25 top names in music who I think should release a holiday album.

Who knows, maybe they’ll see this, agree with the interest and answer a Christmas wish!

Katy Perry

Katy Perry

We know Katy has the holiday spirit! She's done festive campaigns for H&M, designed Christmas-themed shoes for her footwear collection, and she released the super-jolly "Cozy Little Christmas" single a few years back. I think a full length album is somewhat of a staple in a pop singer's discography, and I'd love to hear Katy add one to hers.

UNSPOKEN

UNSPOKEN

This is one of my favorite Christian bands; they have very catchy songs and have released a few holiday songs — including an EP, but I think a full-length album is a must at this point. Check out their song, "Christmas Everyday" — it’s one of my favorites!

BTS

BTS

They’re one of the biggest musical acts in the world with an ARMY of devoted fans. I’m a huge fan of the South Korean group, and as an ARMY, I happen to know they love the holidays. BTS has done a few festive songs for Soundcloud and YouTube, and they released a super fun holiday version of their hit song, “Dynamite” last year. I think a Christmas album would be fun project, but I’m not sure if they actually would. *Fingers Crossed*

P!NK

P!NK

As someone who is known for her powerful yet soothing gift of a voice, I believe P!NK could create a timeless holiday album filled with as many cheerful bops as there are heart-warming soulful ballads. I could even see her making it a family affair and getting her daughter, Willow, on a track or two. The 9-year-old has sang with her mom a few times, and she has a beautiful voice.

Leon Bridges

Leon Bridges

This should be a no-brainer of why he’s on the list. Leon’s voice is so soothing, and I think a soulful Christmas album would be the perfect record to put on while watching the fireplace glow with a hot cocoa in hand and the snow falling outside. Bliss.

Gavin DeGraw

Gavin DeGraw

I have been listening to his music for almost twenty years, and I’ve wanted a Christmas album from him just as long! Gavin has done holiday duets with Colbie Caillat, LeAnn Rimes and Anthony Hamilton, and has recorded a few classics on his own — but, we need an album! Trust me, this record would definitely be on rotation in your household.

Tauren Wells

Tauren Wells

If you’ve had a chance to check out Tauren’s music, then you’d know exactly why a Christmas album from him would sound beautiful. While it would be nice to hear some traditional songs from the Grammy-nominated Christian artist, I just know his original holiday songs would be beautifully filled with faith.

Maren Morris

Maren Morris

I still haven’t gotten over her duet of “When You Believe” with Pentatonix, so I could not make this list without including one of my favorite female country singers.

Lizzo

Lizzo

We all know Lizzo can sing, and that’s why I believe a big band old-school funk Christmas album could be just the thing we need to crank up at a holiday party… you know, when we can all be together again for holiday parties.

Shawn Mendes

Shawn Mendes

I’ve only heard one Christmas song from Shawn — a rendition of “The Christmas Song” with his fellow singer, and girlfriend, Camila Cabello. That said, I really liked his style on it and think a full length album – or even an EP – would be something really special.

Usher

Usher

Why does Usher not have a Christmas album? I literally couldn’t believe it when I realized that I may have heard him sing holiday songs flawlessly, but I’ve never known an album to be in existence and…it needs to be. It really needs to be.

Backstreet Boys

Backstreet Boys

As the biggest selling boy band of all time, you’d think the Backstreet Boys would have already knocked ‘make a Christmas album’ off of their plans, I mean *NYSNC did, but guess what? They only have two released holiday songs! I’ve been listening to “Christmas Time” and “It’s Christmas Time Again” for so many years, and I think it’s due time for a full album.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift

Okay, so Taylor kind of already covered this because she does have one of those compilation type albums called "Sounds of the Season: The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection", but I definitely think she could escalate the cheer to a full length album filled with originals, classics, and the addition of the yuletide singles she’s dropped over the years.

JP Cooper

JP Cooper

JP Cooper has one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard, and I have no doubt at all that his soothing warm vocals singing some beloved (and original) Christmas carols would be as natural as chestnuts roasting on an open fire. I don't know who I need to talk to for my request to be heard, but JP... I hope you're reading this.

Chloe x Halle

Chloe x Halle

If you’ve heard these two young women sing, then you’d be as blown away by their talent as I am. I think a holiday album from them would sound nothing short of stunning. It really makes me wonder if it’s something they’ve ever considered.

OneRepublic

OneRepublic

One of my favorite holiday pop ballads is “Christmas Without You” by the band; I often include it on my #ChristmasSongOfTheDay spotlights every year, and it’s a song that my beloved dogs have fallen asleep to for almost ten years. It’s beautiful and puts you in a serene mood. I would definitely love to have a whole album to fill me with peaceful cheer.

Olivia Rodrigo

Olivia Rodrigo

Olivia is kind of fresh on her success of “Driver’s License,” so I’m not really sure if thinking about holiday music is in the cards for her right now while planning for her first album, but I think a festive record from Olivia would be something her young fans would flock to. She previously recorded holiday songs for the Christmas episode of “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” last year.

Brandy

Brandy

A holiday album from Brandy would be timeless. We need one. It’s actually quite shocking she doesn’t have one, because when I think of voices that just sound ‘merry’, hers is definitely on my list.

Bruno Mars

Bruno Mars

How could I not put Bruno on my list!? I truly think a funky Christmas album from the Grammy winner would be something that would go down in history as one of the best holiday albums of all time -- and it hasn’t even been created yet.

Dan + Shay

Dan + Shay

The country duo released some holiday songs last year that I absolutely loved, and I’m not done hearing some jingle jams from them. Do you think we’ll ever get a holiday record from them? I hope so.

Jonas Brothers

Jonas Brothers

Something tells me this is something the Jonas Brothers have discussed, so it may not be an out-of-pocket wish of mine. They’ve released holiday singles over the the course of their career and, from what I’ve seen on Instagram over the years, their family is really into the season. So, maybe?

Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys

Oh, you know this is a solid choice. Alicia would nail it! I’ve heard a few holiday songs from her, which has reinforced the fact, for me, that she should record a full album. Please and thank you.

Charlie Puth

Charlie Puth

A few years ago, Charlie revealed that his first album was actually a Christmas album that he recorded when he was in junior high school. I think with the experience he now has under his belt in singing, songwriting and producing, a much more polished follow-up should be on his ‘Christmas To-Do’ list.

Years & Years

Years & Years

Years & Years makes music that I love dancing to, but it wasn't until I heard lead singer Olly Alexander doing a rendition of Ariana Grande's "Santa Tell Me" on his Instagram last year that made me think a Christmas pop album is exactly something I want to hear from the band. I'm not sure if a full record would be their style, but I'm totally cool with an EP too!
Photo: Polydor Records

Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande

Speaking of Ariana... The singer has put out a couple of Christmas EPs, so there’s definitely no lack of holiday cheer in her discography, but her sound has definitely continued to grow over the years, and I’d love to know what a Christmas album would sound from her now in her current musical era.

Disclaimer: I’m not even sure if all of these artists celebrate, Christmas — as I said, this was just for fun because I think they would all make good holiday records. For some, I have heard holiday songs from them so it might not be far-fetched either.

Stay merry!
